Main Street Sterling Kicks Off Membership Drive

Main Street Sterling begins 2010 membership drive

Main Street Sterling will begin its annual membership drive next week.  Individuals and businesses are invited to make their yearly investment in the organization throughout the remainder of March and April.

Main Street Sterling will be holding a come and go dinner at the Broadway Market on Monday, March 29, from 5:00-7:00pm.  Members and any businesses or individuals interested in becoming members are invited to attend. Enjoy a pulled pork dinner after work, and enter one of 2 drawings for Main Street Bucks to be given away that night, and enjoy the “smooth” vocals of internationally renowned Jazz artist Kathy Kosins throughout the evening.

Membership levels are as follows: Bronze (individuals, nonprofits, and clubs at the ($25-$75 level); Silver (individuals and small businesses investing $76-$225); Gold (mid-size businesses at the $226-$375 level); and Sterling Silver (large businesses, corporations, and utilities investing $376-above).

Main Street Sterling receives no federal or state funding.  It is funded by membership dues from local businesses, professionals, property owners, financial institutions, industry, concerned citizens, and the City of Sterling.

In 2009 alone, Main Street Sterling helped bring over $200,000 of public and private reinvestment into our downtown, which helped to create over 8 new full-time jobs. $20,000 was loaned out to businesses from the Incentives Without Walls funding program.

The Main Street Approach is designed to revitalize the downtown area as a viable marketplace and the center of community activity.  Main Street Sterling was designated a Kansas Main Street community in 1997 and is part of the National Trust Main Street Center, a program developed by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
