TWMS
February
Our TWMS this month was held on February 9th at Studio 96 at 7:00 p.m.  Audrey Umekubo, a professional dance instructor from Salina, provided the lessons and guidance to all those in attendance.  She taught the dancers the swing and fox trot.  Broadway Market supplied some wonderful food and punch.
Upcoming Events

The March TWMS will be held on March 15th, also at Studio 96.  It will be "Luck of the Irish Bingo."  There will obviously be Bingo, as well as some other games.  Prizes will be awarded.  And, of course, there will be food. Remember to wear green! Check the Event Board!

Membership Drive
We will soon be kicking off our 2012 membership drive.  We have one of the most beautiful Main Streets in the state and it is getting better all the time.  This is due, in large part, to the members of Main Street Sterling.  Individuals can join for as little as $25.  Of course you can give much more. Contact Us!

Mike's Memos

Studio 96 is complete. The flooring, kitchen, bathrooms and the art studio are all in and it looks great! How lucky we are to have a such a facility. Main Street Sterling plans to use it for several of our functions throughout the year. If you would like to be a part of this fabulous facility and help with their needs, they have a wish list of items they would like to have:
-Permanent signage for the building facade
-Round tables
-Roller racks for chair and table shortage
-Floor scrubber/polisher
-Projector with retractable HD screen and sound system
-Reproduction of Max Moxley's historic photos for the center walls
-Coat rack on wheels.

For the Gallery:
-Kiln and pottery wheel
-Mat cutter
-Gallery picture hanging system
-Laptop computer

You can find these, I believe, on the link below. If you need a place for a function, reunion, etc., please plan on using it. That is what it is there for. If you can't stop in to look at it, go to our Main Street website and click on the link, or just go to: www.studio96.org.
We will be having over a hundred people visit our town on Thursday, August 16th. Kansas Main Street has quarterly training opportunities and they will be coming here on that date. People from all over the state from the 25 Main Street communities will see what the town has to offer. They will be meeting at Studio 96. It will be a chance for all of us to "show off."
April 28th will be the date of the third Love Sterling event. This will involve about 200 students from the college who will spend the day helping to fix and improve Sterling. Their focus will be down town. It is headed by Joellen Maurer. If you have any ideas for projects let her or me know and we'll try to make it happen.
I would like to ask you to be a Main Street volunteer. We have many good ones but, as is the case with most organizations, we do not have enough. We have opportunities for many different areas - probably one that has your talent. Please give me or any Board member listed in the left column a call to ask what you can do. Please help keep Main Street Sterling strong! Although not technically a part of Main Street, I would like you to consider buying a brick to help fund the Veteran's War Memorial to be constructed at Sterling Lake. It is a community-wide project and worthy of note. Go to our website and click on the Sterling Bulletin's website link there. It has all the information on how to donate.
